What card to use
Players can use a standard 52 card deck. This game has the king as the highest and ace as the lowest.
The goal of the player
The player’s goal is to make sure that they always play their cards. This move is also known as mend.
The Setup
This game requires a dealer. So before shuffling go ahead and choose the dealer. The dealer will be the one responsible to deal cards to the players.
- For those playing by two – 10 cards each
- For those playing with 3 players – Seven cards each
- For those playing 5 to 6 players – Six cards each
The cards that are not able to be dealt with the need to be placed face down in the center of the table. This will form the draw pile. Turn the top card from your draw pile facing upwards. You then need to set it next to the draw pile. This will then begin the discard pile. You need to take note that as you are playing the game the pile becomes exhausted. Once this happens just shuffle the discard pile. Leave the one top to create another draw pile.
The gameplay
- In every player’s turn, each needs to follow the sequence
- Players need to draw one card either from the top of the draw pile or the top of the discard pile.
- The player may be able to play a meld of cards or they can add this to another player’s meld.
- The player then needs to discard one of their cards. They need to add this facing up to the top of the discard pile. There is one exception to this need that players discard. If a player has already melded all their cards. They don’t need to discard.
Meld of cards
A meld of cards can only be played if it meets the following conditions
- Groups: Three of four of the similar kind
- Sequences: Three or more consecutive cards that are in the similar suit
Going out
A player can only “go out” when they play their last card in their hand. This can be done by melding or laying off or discarding.
